I have a timed ticket
Head for the on-site car park and allow extra time. In high season or at weekends, consider parking in the centre first and going up by bus or taxi so nothing derails your entry slot.

The Alhambra sits on top of a hill and driving up can be confusing if you don't know Granada. The best car park depends on your entry time, where you are staying, whether you travel with children or need step-free access, and whether the low-emission zone (ZBE) worries you. This guide helps you decide without surprises.

Keep the walking short: use the on-site car park, or go up by bus or taxi from a central car park. The climb with a pushchair is not always comfortable.
According to the Trust, sector P-1 of the on-site car park caters for adapted vehicles. Check the conditions and the accessible route that applies to your visit in the Alhambra's official accessibility information before you travel.
Moving the car often isn't worth it: go up by bus (C30/C32), taxi or on foot. Leave the car in your hotel's car park or a central one.
An edge-of-town car park plus a city bus usually works out better, in exchange for a little more walking. We never promise prices.
Choose an edge-of-town car park and go up by bus or taxi. If your car has no emissions sticker, or you are unsure, don't improvise.
This isn't scaremongering: it is the thing that surprises first-time visitors most.

See all sourcesThe most direct option is usually the monument's own car park (Parking Alhambra), open 24 hours and supervised according to the Trust; it is now booked through INDIGO Neo (previously marketed as Parkia). Alternatively, many visitors park in the city centre and go up by bus (C30/C32), taxi, or on foot via the Cuesta de Gomérez.
It can be, if you are staying or eating in the centre, want to spend less, or the on-site car park is full. Bear in mind that the walk up is steep and can be hard going in summer.
We cannot guarantee prices or a free space. In general the cheaper choice is an edge-of-town car park plus a city bus. See our cheap parking guide for detail.
Allow a comfortable margin. Factor in reaching the car park, the walk to the ticket office or entrance control, queues and checks, and read the Alhambra's official guidance on punctuality.
It is popular and perfectly doable, but the Cuesta de Gomérez is a real climb. With small children, reduced mobility or intense heat, a bus or taxi may be wiser.
Anything that shortens the walk. The on-site car park, or a bus or taxi from a central car park, is usually more comfortable than the full climb with a pushchair or tired legs.
It can affect parts of the route, especially if you cross the centre. Always check the current city council information before driving in restricted areas. If in doubt, use an edge-of-town car park and public transport.

Local tip: if in doubt, park down in the city and go up by bus or taxi. Arriving calm makes the visit far better.
